WOW! What a year 2007 was for the Las Vegas Crafters Guild. First of all I would like to thank the previous board for all of its efforts and for leaving a legacy for the new board to draw upon for inspiration. All of the very capable individuals on both boards are volunteers of the highest dedication, ready and willing to promote the “ART of CRAFT”.
2007 was a great success for our guild. We were able to achieve non-profit status for our group, expanding membership to 30 plus members, and held our first Member exclusive craft show at the Henderson Convention Center resulting in sales as a group over $8,000.00. Our group was able to donate funds to the Whitney Elementary School art department. Members of the guild have also donated items such as books, magazines, movies and craft supplies to the residents at Torrey Pines Center.
It’s 2008!! The Las Vegas Crafters Guild is ready for another year for great achievements. We anticipate steady growth this year in membership. There is lots of hard work ahead preparing for our 2008 Craft Show, hard work and determination are the key to building a successful show that will be known and excel as a leader for quality hand crafted goods.
Some exciting news! This year the Las Vegas Crafters guild is progressing towards more of an online presence and will highlight members and their work on our website. We will be adding a forum section to the website, hopefully this system will make information more accessible for members, allowing members to communicate, asking questions and getting information without the fear of “lost e-mail syndrome” that we have experienced in the past.
We want our guild meetings to be fun and educational, and have moved to having quarterly business meeting and all other meeting will be dedicated to learning something new in the craft world, and allow more time for social interaction.
I would like to welcome new members and welcome back existing members. 2008 is sure to be an exciting year for our ever growing “craft family”.
